The U16 Program is an extension of the technical and tactical progression athletes work through in previous seasons, emphasizing balance, edging, and body position. Groups split their time between all-mountain skiing, taking advantage of the world class terrain at Sugarbush Resort, technical drills, gate training, and, as always, having fun!

Program Dates: December 4, 2021 – March 27, 2022
Training Hours: Saturdays 8:30am – 2:30pm, 4 days of the December holiday period, and 3 days during the February break.
In addition to our Saturday only U16 program, U16 and older athletes may elect to particiapte in our High School Pre-Seaon Program as outlined below:
U19/U16/U14 age athletes are welcome to join the high school, pre-season program for early season training December 4, 2021 through January 2, 2022. Includes Friday afternoons, full-day Saturdays and Sundays and holiday week training in December (approximately 14 days of training) in preparation for the high school race season. This is a good way to get some early season training/drills and gates in before your high school program begins.
Competition Goals & Events
Racing shifts at the U16 level from Northern Vermont Council races to open races held within the state of Vermont or across the Eastern Region.
Many GMVS Ski Club U16s are also racing competitively for their high schools and use weekend training to hone their skills and obtain additional on-snow time.
U16 Saturday Only / Holiday's
This Program is open to U16 age athletes who only train on Saturdays and do not race in VARA Open or Vermont Cup races.
