AJ Ginnis

Fayston, VT- Ski Racing’s U.S. Junior Alpine Skier of the Year Awards were announced last week at the U.S. Alpine Championships in Sugarloaf, Maine. AJ Ginnis and Mikaela Shiffrin were named as this year’s two recipients. Ginnis graduated from Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) in 2011. He is a U.S. Ski Team development group athlete, World Cup racer, and bronze medal winner at the World Junior Championships in Norway. Six GMVS Athletes Named to Vermont All-State Soccer Team

Six Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) student-athletes were named to the Vermont All-State Soccer Team last week. Girls’ Team members include Eva Shaw, Ali Nullmeyer, and Lindsey Crowell, while Brian Chambers, Seb Gonin, and Logan Slattery were named to the Boys’ Team.  Senior players were invited to participate in the Senior Classic at Mt. Abraham Union High School. Gumby Girls Move on to Semi Finals

Original published in the Valley ReporterAfter the exciting events of the GMVS men’s soccer game last Friday, the lady Gumbies came home with another thrilling win for GMVS. In their game against Middlebury High School on Saturday, the Lady Gumbies dominated the first half with more shots on goal than Middlebury, however, the second half was more back and forth between the two teams. The score remained 0-0 until the end of the game when it went into the first overtime. When neither team scored in the first overtime the game went into another fifteen minutes of overtime. GMVS Girls Lose Heartbreaker

October 29, 2014 ~ The GMVS girls’ soccer team took on a formidable foe in the third-ranked Eagles of Mt. Abraham in Wednesday’s state semifinal matchup, only to fall halfway through the first overtime, 1-0. The game was an even affair, with much of the play in the middle of the field. GMVS could not solve the Eagle defense, yet GMVS goalkeeper Eva Shaw kept things level with some stellar saves. Mt. Abe turned on the steam in the second half, but Shaw came up big time and again, including one outstanding save on a Mt. Professional Broadway Dance Captain Training GMVS Theater Program

October 23, 2014 ~ As the GMVS Theater Program put final touches on its annual fall musical, it got an extra boost from Broadwaygreat, David Kent, who turned his ski racing beginnings into an accomplished career in dance and acting. Mr. Kent helped train GMVS students all week, as they polished their skills for this year's performance of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.  With thousands of his own performances he is clearly well-suited for the job, and GMVS is honored to host him. David grew up in Cazenovia, New York, only steps away from a small ski area. Mike Taplinger '78 (Stage name: Mike T. Lewis) to Perform at Big Picture

The Twangtown Paramours, an award-winning acoustic Folk/Americana duo from Nashville, will be performing on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 PM at the Big Picture in Waitsfield.  The music of the Twangtown Paramours has been called “Sophisticated Americana”, and is a hybrid of the Nashville and Austin music scenes.
