October 29, 2012 ~ The boys' soccer team hosted the 5th-seeded Wasps of Woodstock on Friday under beautiful clear skies in front of a large crowd. They didn't disappoint, as they rode goals by co-scoring leaders Brendan Todd and David Frisk (each with 7 goals of the year) to dominate the game in a 2-0 victory. Brendan broke the scoreless tie with only 8 seconds left in the first half, converting a picture-perfect free kick from just outside the box. His 'upper 90' goal was matched late in the second half by David, who took a perfect pass from Jack Schibli, turned his defender, and rifled a shot past the Woodstock keeper to seal the win.The boys have won 7 in a row, recording 3 straight shutouts, and now travel to Manchester Center to face the undefeated #1 Bulldogs of Burr and Burton. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at 3 pm, but that may change, depending on what Sandy brings in the way of rain and wind, so stay tuned. In any case, it should be a terrific matchup, as GMVS tries to end BBA's long wining streak and gain a spot in the finals for the first time in over a decade.
