After graduate school, Kerry began teaching in a variety of independent school settings. She was a founding faculty member of the Academy for Global Exploration, an international travel and outdoor adventure program, where she was the Director of Academics and English teacher, leading semester-long trips to other countries for cultural studies and outdoor adventures ranging from whitewater kayaking to rock climbing, backpacking and surfing. After three years living out of her backpack, Kerry moved back to Vermont and began teaching at GMVS in the fall of 2003. She lives in the Valley with her husband Sam and daughter Quinn.
